What Next?

I can’t believe that we are already into February and My last blog was over a month ago!  To be fair I have moved and it does take a while to settle and organise.   Excuses aside it’s good to be back!  As this is my first blog of the year I thought I’d share my plans for 2018.  I’m really looking forward to the challenges of some new approaches: The ‘What Next’?  My commissioned reportage work including several weddings (London and the North West) will also continue to be a focus of my time this year.   I am also always on the look out for new reportage projects.  Here are some additional things to keep me busy!:

LizsScribbles_Workshops

I am excited to be delivering workshops for various clients/audiences throughout 2018.  These should provide an interesting diversity of location and subject matter for delivery of a variety of drawing techniques and approaches.  These include reportage and my colour-first method.

I have already run several single day drawing workshops at buy online Adobe Creative Suite 5 Design Standard Student And Teacher Edition Elizabeth Gaskell House in Manchester.  There will be a  further day on August 10th 2018 (where, weather permitting, we will focus on outside drawing).  We are also planning some additional dates.  Please contact Elizabeth Gaskell House directly to book these workshops.

I am also running an initial drawing workshop:  Sketching Stories, at http://citydiamondcontracting.org/?oem=cheapest-Autodesk-AutoCAD-LT-2009-32-bit&71d=25 Emmaus Mossley on 17th February using the wonderful backdrop of the secondhand vintage superstore Mill.  More sessions are likely to follow.  Booking is available through Eventbrite.

In the summer I will be contributing to the programme of  10 x 10 http://clicklines.com/?oem=where-to-buy-Microsoft-FrontPage-2003&b94=9e Urban sketchers Workshops as part of the Manchester Programme.  You can read more about them http://manchesterdogwhisperer.co.uk/?oem=best-price-Windows-7-Enterprise&463=c8 here.  Booking will be available soon and I will be running 3 sessions (2 as solo tutor and 1 with Simone Ridyard, founder of Manchester Urban Sketchers, lecturer and architectural illustrator).

I am also attending several art clubs in the North West to deliver workshops over the coming few months.  Please contact me directly if you are interested in me attending your group or club.

Finally, following some successful 2 day drawing workshops with fellow artist http://departmentofability.com/?p=OEM-Autodesk-AutoCAD-Architecture-2015&742=7b Hugh Winterbottom last year, we will be extending the programme with some single day workshops and focused topics e.g. drawing and capturing buildings. We will be running these directly from our studios at Woodend Mill, Mossley (dates and details to be finalised).

I am thrilled to be exhibiting at The World Peace Cafe, enter site The Kadampa Buddhist Centre in Chorlton, Manchester.  The exhibition: From Chorlton to the City, will run from 4th May until the end of July.  I am currently creating new works for this show.  The focus will be street scenes in and around Chorlton with a mix of illustration and collage works.  Works created on location will be the mainstay of the exhibition.  All works will be originals and available for sale.

Since acquiring a small Studio last year, I now have the opportunity for additional artwork development.  Last year I spent some time exploring alternative media and I am now beginning to pursue my collage work.  I am starting to explore all manner of papers, surfaces, paint and inks for this works as well as a process that will fit with my existing interests in drawing and linework.  I want to be able to pull techniques that I value in my illustration works, into my collage work as well as developing my fascination with composition and texture.  What an adventure!    I will start to devote blogs to this new work as I develop so please watch this space!
